2026-03-24 Whistler Blackcomb snow report
The base stayed icier than I wanted, the same unforgiving foundations from yesterday, but the new top layer actually felt better than the official 1cm overnight number suggested—there was more fresh snow once I chased it around the midday laps.
High winds shut most alpine chairs, so the mid-mountain coaches that are still open carried the day; they were running, loading quickly, and the queues were light enough that the locals could keep rotating without waiting long. That slightly sheltered zone let the newer fluff sit on the ice, and the upper layer was very good for carving once I picked a smooth patch.
Lower on Big Red and anywhere below it was still ugly—thin, tracked-out, and flat, just a reminder that the base is still the same old frozen stuff. For the most fun I stuck to mid-region laps where the fresh top kept things lively and the wind had settled down enough to not rip the snow apart.
