Guest density on the lower mountain was noticeably higher than earlier in the week, mostly around gondola access points, and the lack of overnight snow left the surface more compact than preferred. Snow quality held together as a generally solid base, although the bottom of Big Red was icy and wet, which made the lower runs feel heavy and slow by mid-afternoon; the upper slopes stayed softer but still a touch punchy due to the gray skies and moderate warmth. Stay alert for slick patches near the lift unloads, since moisture buildup kept things shiny and firm underfoot.
