2021-03-09 to 2021-03-11 Revelstoke Mountain Resort snow report
Yes, it's RMR, Revelstoke Mountain Resort! If you live in greater Vancouver area and go to Grouse mountain often for snowboarding, you might own your Y2Play pass, and the pass comes with 3 free day lift tickets of Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Revelstoke is located between Kamloops, Kelowna, and Calgary, in the middle of mountains.
The resort has 1 gondola, 2 magic carpets, and 3 lifts, while Grouse has 1 gondola, 1 margic carpet, and 3 running lifts (and 1 unoperated lift), so they seem similar, but the scales are completely different. The image below are from Google Maps with the same zoom scale.
We'll post details of each runs shortly, but here we'll digest the entire resort.
The structure
The mountain consists of 5 sections.
- Stoke chair
- The highest point. Very steep and widely open. You can hike to the peaks too.
- Green runs: The Last Spike (Upper), Greenhorn
- Blue runs: Critical Path, Hollywood
- Steller chair
- If you are a beginner, after practicing magic carpet, stay here. All the other areas are very hard.
- Green run: Big Bend
- Blue run: Practically Pro
- Ripper chair
- Similar to Stoke chair area, but runs are narrower and have more stable soft snow
- Green run: Sally Alley
- Blue run: Burn Down
- Stoke base to Revelation lodge
- In the morning/early afternoon lower parts can be icy
- Green run: The Last Spike (Mid)
- Blue run: Critical Path <- yes, same name as the one at the Stoke chair, but they aren't connected
- Revelation lodge to village base
- You can see human civilization while snowboarding. It's slushy and forgiving.
- Green run: The Last Spike (Lower)
The snow conditions were amazing, even better than Seymour mountain for the most of runs. Popular and wide open runs, such as Critical Path, can be tracked down and get icy in the afternoon, but you can still grip and rip almost anywhere anytime. The terrain was steep but forgiving at the same time.
